Rise 360 is the closest thing on the market to what SCORMBuilder does: a browser-based tool where you assemble a course from ready-made blocks and it looks good on every device. The differences are what those blocks let you do, and what you pay to get there.
Rise comes bundled in an Articulate 360 subscription at $1,449 to $1,749 per user per year, billed annually. SCORMBuilder is $29 a month.
| Plan | Price | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Rise 360 (via Articulate 360 AI Personal) | $1,449 / user / year | Annual only |
| Rise 360 (via Articulate 360 AI Teams) | $1,749 / user / year | Annual only |
| SCORMBuilder.ai | $29 / month — $348 / year | Monthly, cancel any time |
Rise 360 is sold as part of an Articulate 360 subscription rather than as a separate purchase, so the suite price applies even if Rise is the only tool you use. Pricing verified August 2026 and may change.
Rise's great strength is that it is hard to make an ugly course — the blocks are fixed and always look right. Its most common criticism is the same thing from the other side: limited customisation, and courses that look like Rise courses. SCORMBuilder ships 50+ block types and Block Studio, a free-form canvas where you design your own branded blocks and reuse them across every course.
In Rise you pick a block, paste content, pick the next block. Recent releases added Magic Import to convert an approved storyboard into lessons. SCORMBuilder starts from nothing: describe a topic or upload a document and it drafts the whole course — lessons, narration, images and quiz questions — which you then edit in a visual editor.
Both let you send a link for review. A recurring complaint about Review 360 is that comments pile up in a single list, so the author has to work out which lesson each one refers to. SCORMBuilder pins every comment to the block it was left on, shows the text it refers to, and jumps you there in the editor.
Articulate added AI translation to Rise on its higher tiers. SCORMBuilder includes one-click translation into 35+ languages in the single $29 plan, with full right-to-left layout for Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Urdu, and the language and direction written into the exported package.
Rise is genuinely excellent at what it does. If the suite is already paid for, there is little reason to move.
Everything your LMS cares about. SCORMBuilder exports SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI and cmi5, the same standards Rise publishes to, and the output is responsive on phones and tablets in the same way. Packages upload to Moodle, TalentLMS, Docebo, Cornerstone, Blackboard and Canvas and report scores and completion identically. Courses already published from Rise keep working, because a published package does not depend on the tool that made it.
SCORMBuilder.ai is the closest match in workflow: browser-based, block-driven, responsive output and SCORM export, at $29 a month instead of an Articulate 360 subscription. It adds AI course generation, a canvas for designing your own blocks, and one-click translation into 35+ languages.
Rise 360 is normally bought as part of an Articulate 360 subscription rather than separately, so the suite price applies: $1,449 per user per year for AI Personal and $1,749 for AI Teams as of August 2026, billed annually. If Rise is the only tool you use, you are paying for Storyline and the Content Library as well.
Rise gives you colours, fonts and a logo, but the block layouts themselves are fixed, which is why Rise courses tend to look alike. If a distinctive branded design matters, SCORMBuilder's Block Studio lets you design blocks on a free-form canvas and reuse them across your courses.
Yes. SCORMBuilder's output is responsive by default and adapts to phones and tablets without extra work, the same as Rise, and exports to SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI and cmi5 for any LMS.
No. Courses you have already published as SCORM or xAPI are self-contained packages sitting in your LMS, and they keep working whether or not the subscription that produced them is active. Only new authoring moves.
